Access to video PlayBack files through Gateway

Key message: From Tuesday 18 October 2022, we will be directing you to your password-protected Gateway to access all video downloads, instead of providing unprotected links in an email. That is, everything is in Gateway. The link in your email will direct you to the Gateway, and you will need to login with the correct details to access that link.

What if you need to share video with a third party?

From within Gateway, you will be able to access a sharable link for video that you need to make available externally. These links, while not password protected, are adapted to exclude access to your business data or other video files.

Why have we made this change?

This is a requirement for data security, and will further protect sensitive business information from external access. It will also better protect the identity of ordinary people who get captured on footage without their explicit knowledge.

This is a step up in terms of security, but we recognise that it adds an additional step (password entry) before viewing requested video downloads. We hope that the benefit of being able to review footage on board the vehicle before download offsets any inconvenience (see here) and the many recent upgrades in Gateway will make it easy to adjust, but we are aware it takes a while to embed a change in process. Please do be patient and stick with the change though – it is important that we are all careful with video files.
